IIFF 2023 Istanbul Furniture Fair is Swinging into High Gear in The Preparations

Goal: Exceed 3 billion dollars in export

After the achievement last year, IIFF 2023 is swinging into high gear in the preparations.

IIFF 2023 will be held between 24-29 January 2023 with the support of Furniture Associations Federation (MOSFED) and the collaboration of Tüyap Fair Organization Group and Mos Fair Organization. The goal of the fair is to exceed the business connections of 3 billion dollars, the foundation of which was laid in 2022. The fair will again be held at the Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Center and the Istanbul Fair Center simultaneously.

Ranking among the world's top 3rd furniture manufacturing bases and delivering Turkish furniture to approximately 200 countries, the Turkish furniture industry exhibited an average 30% increase in the first 4 months of 2022. The industry aims to exceed the 6 billion dollars target set for 2023 and especially improves its export potential through international fairs.

In this sense, IIFF 2022 Istanbul Furniture Fair, which was organized simultaneously for the first time in Turkey at two fair centers, Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Center and Istanbul Fair Center, hosted a total of approximately 122 thousand visitors, including 107 thousand domestic visitors and 14 thousand from 138 different countries. With 850 participants and more than 3 thousand brands, a business connection of 3 billion dollars was established.

The Furniture Industry Anticipates IIFF 2023

Following this achievement, the furniture industry is eagerly awaiting IIFF 2023 Istanbul Furniture Fair. Tüyap Exhibitions Group and Mos Fair Organization, which organize the fair, along with the Furniture Associations Federation (MOSFED), which supports it, are swinging into high gear in the preparations for this big event scheduled for 24-29 January 2023.

Over 140,000 Visitors Expected

With intense promotional activities, IIFF 2023 is expected to host more than 140,000 visitors, including 20,000 foreign business people from nearly 150 countries. This year, the organizers especially aim to attract visitors from Europe and America. As in the previous year, the fair will be held simultaneously at the Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Center and the Istanbul Fair Center, encompassing 25 halls with an exhibition area of 260,000 m². The Istanbul Fair Center will showcase Modern-Modular furniture, Beds and Bed Bases, Garden Furniture, Office and School Furniture, and Accessories, while the Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Center will feature Modern-Modular Furniture, Luxury Furniture, and Kids' and Youth Room Furniture.

Due to rising demand for 2023 and the squeeze in the European market, many foreign companies are eager to participate in IIFF 2023 to gain entry into the Turkish market and reach new Middle Eastern countries.

"Traditionalizing and Moving Forward the Firsts"

İlhan Ersözlü, General Manager of Tüyap Fairs Organization Inc., stated, “We are operating with the vision of traditionalizing and moving forward the firsts. We achieved an important 'first' in Turkey by holding the IIFF 2022 simultaneously in two different venues. This large international gathering facilitated critical business connections, helped achieve furniture industry export targets, and elevated Turkey's standing as a furniture manufacturing base. Our preparations for the second Istanbul Furniture Fair, to be held from 24-29 January 2023, are progressing swiftly with the goal of supporting the furniture industry to secure its rightful position in global trade.”

"After IIFF Istanbul Furniture Fair, Many International Companies Chose Turkey for Manufacturing"

Ahmet Güleç, President of the Furniture Associations Federation (MOSFED), remarked on the fair, “We witnessed the fair’s contributions to the Turkish furniture industry through the business volume achieved during the event. The meetings and partnerships we initiated at the fair quickly evolved into production, increasing the size of our 12 billion-dollar industry in Turkey. We have also received favorable interest from foreign companies for IIFF 2023, and leading global furniture companies are now looking toward our country and choosing Turkey as a manufacturing hub.”

Turkish Furniture Industry on the Rise

Emphasizing the rapid growth of the Turkish furniture industry over the last 20 years, Ahmet Güleç added, “The Turkish furniture industry holds a 2.2% share of the global furniture market, with a 25% increase in our furniture export rate. We reached an export volume of 4.3 billion dollars. Turkey ranks among the top 5 furniture-exporting countries. After IIFF Istanbul Furniture Fair, we entered new markets and increased our global market share; 9 of our top 10 export markets are developed countries. The U.S., where our exports were nearly zero a decade ago, is now our 3rd largest export market. We aim to reach an export volume of 6 billion dollars in 2022, with 3 billion dollars of this goal already achieved through business connections at IIFF 2022.”
